BCA Boys’ Basketball Squad secure place at Black Country Games

March 11, 2026

On Thursday 5th March 2026, the boys started the group stage off with 3 wins in a row against West Walsall, Paul Hayes, and Walsall Academy B team with only 1 loss against Queen Mary’s. This got us into the semi-Final against Walsall academy’s A team who had not lost a game yet ! The boys remained confident and the game was close being tied at 4-4 but Mqhele was incredible, getting steals, blocks, rebounds and of course with 10 seconds to go he hit a game winning shot to take us to the final. We had to face Queen Mary’s in the final, unfortunately we couldn’t get our revenge for the loss in the group stage and ended up falling short loosing 4-3 but the boys showed amazing passion and did not give up through the whole 8 minutes of that game. However, the boys were still in high spirits as we finished 2nd overall, we still qualified for the Black Country Games which is an outstanding achievement from these 5 boys and they can’t wait to compete in that tournament.
Mr Cooper was impressed by all 5 boys “who were up for it the whole time, being extremely positive and believing in their ability.”
