Diversity Day reminder, Friday 4th July 2025

June 30, 2025

The Academy is looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic day. As a Church of England school, our ethos and values are based on Christian traditions but our students come from many different backgrounds and faiths, and we use the richness that this diversity brings to enhance learning opportunities and bring our school community closer together. On the day there will be lots going on including bhangra dancing, performance poet, 360 booth, steel pans and more.

Staff and students are invited to attend on Diversity Day in cultural dress. Cultural dress refers to clothing that is specific to a particular culture or region, often reflecting historical, social, and religious customs.  Alternatively, clothing which links with a particular theme or colours of a national flag would also be appropriate.

As a Rights Respecting School we recognise that children have the right to their own identity (Right 8), children can choose their own thoughts opinions and religion (Right 14), aims of education should help children develop fully and teach of them other people’s cultures and differences (Right 29) and that children have the right to use their own culture, religion and language (Right 30).
