Good News Story: Blue Coat Academy’s very own Action Man Paul Booker on his marathons and fundraising

September 29, 2025

Putting his best foot forward to raise funds for a host of charities is Blue Coat Academy’s very own Action Man Paul Booker.

Paul- a valued member of the site team who also drives the minibuses- has recently completed the Humber Coastal Half Marathon – that’s 13 gruelling miles of hills and dales- from Cleethorpes to Hull, in Humberside.

It took it two hours and ten minutes.

And that’s not all… he’s also set to compete in a slightly shorter 10,000 metres (that’s 10K or just over 6 miles) in Alton Towers in Staffordshire. This run will be in aid of Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Paul, and his wife, have also set their sights on raising funds for the Air Ambulance in the coming months.

“It’s not about setting targets,” he says. “It’s not about how many hundreds or thousands of pounds we can raise and then saying: ‘Stop! We’ve got there!’

“There is never enough money for charities. You can never do enough for them. Fund raising never stops.”

Mr Booker really does encompass the core values of our Academy and the many different Rights by supporting places like a Children’s Hospital and the Air Ambulance.
