Pupils visit the National Police Dog Trials at Tally Ho!

May 21, 2025

13 year 8 students visited the National Police Dog Trials at Tally Ho! West Midlands. Pupils were able to take advantage of demonstrations from different departments within the Police, from the Firearms Unit to their Training Team to the Drone Unit. Students were able to talk to serving officers and police staff about their different roles within the force and get some careers advice.

Pupils participated in a test which all serving Police Officers must complete to join the West Midlands force, The Bleep Test. One of our students achieved level 9.6 which is what all officers who wish to serve in the Firearms Unit must achieve. Well done, Harley!!!

The pupils observed a serving Police Dog called Addison (great name) in action and training in the dog pool. They also saw the Drone Unit and were able to chat to the Officers who flew them at different events and incidents.

Before they left, they saw all of the Units in action in the main ring where they put a display on for all the schools there.

Thank you to Miss Addison for organising and accompanying the pupils. She said,

“It was an amazing experience we were able to offer to the students who yet again were a credit to the school and really stood out as to just how amazing we all know they are.”

As a Rights Respecting School we understand that the aims of education extend far past the classroom and developing the pupil’s personalities, talents and abilities are just as important (Right 29)
