A fantastic day of cricket at the Staffordshire County U15 Boys Cricket Tournament, with 8 of our talented players stepping up to the plate and giving it their all! 🏏
Group Stage:
The boys played three matches in their group, winning two and narrowly losing one by just 2 runs. 💪
• First up, a solid win against Pool Hayes with a total of 109 runs! 🏆
• Then, another convincing victory over Sandwell with 105 runs, putting us in a great position for qualification. 🌟
Despite the heartbreaker in the one-run loss, the team’s strong performance saw them qualify as Best Runner-Up across the three groups!
Semi-Final:
Next up, it was a big challenge against John Taylor High School – the team that had beaten everyone on the day. The boys batted first and set a strong total on the board. However, in a heartbreaking twist, with only one over left to play, we had to forfeit the game. This was due to a mix-up with the bowling rotations, and unfortunately, we hadn’t allowed enough players to bowl their one-over, which is a real shame. 😔
At that point, John Taylor needed 24 runs off 5 balls to win… but, as always, we played our hearts out.
Final Result:
Despite the setback, our team held their heads high and took 3rd place overall in the tournament, which means WE QUALIFY FOR THE COUNTY FINALS!! 🏅
Our boys showed incredible teamwork, resilience, and skill all day long, and we couldn’t be prouder. The County Finals will take place on Friday 4th July, and we’re all buzzing for the next challenge! 🏏🔥
Let’s hear it for our amazing team! 👏👏👏
Thank you to Mr Roper and the PE Team for their continued support in helping the team go from strength to strength.
