Year 10s achieve joint 3rd place at the regional finals of The King’s Trust Enterprise Challenge, at Edgbaston Priory Club.

May 20, 2025

We were one of only 4 schools at the event from around the West Midlands region.

Our team had to design and develop a business plan and pitch it to a prestigious judging panel including Claire Daniel the CEO Edgbaston Priory Club, Sarah Ann Moore Chair of Edgbaston Priory Club, Rufus Bowen Reginal Director The Watches of Switzerland Group, Maxine Laceby Co-Founder Absolut Collagen, Elizabeth Foster DL Deputy Lieutenant West Midlands and Kwame Boateng Founder of Ingrained Oil.

The pupils had a tour of the clubs and grounds, then had some time to practice their pitch before lunch. Then on to the main event in the afternoon, Blue Coat presented first and set the bar high. After all, 4 schools had delivered their pitches, the judges went off to deliberate. Whilst they were deliberating, there was a Q&A with Blake Bentley, who is a young entrepreneur. Blake received support and funding from The Kings Trust to start his business ‘Scran Man’ which is an American street food shop based in Grate Barr. He was a real inspiration and gave the students a real insight into how a lot of hard work can pay off.

The Judges then arrived back in the room with their decisions where Blue Coat were announced joint 3rd. The team put in an incredible amount of work and were a real credit to Blue Coat and walked away with their heads held high. Well done #teambluecoat you were AMAZING.

Thank you to Miss Addison for her support, after the event she said “I am so proud of the hard work and dedication the pupils showed to their incredible business idea.”

As a Rights Respecting School we understand that the aims of education extend far past the classroom and developing the pupil’s personalities, talents and abilities are just as important (Right 29)
