Year 11 visit Cambridge University

November 13, 2025

Before the October half-term, a group of our students had the exciting opportunity to visit Cambridge University. The purpose of the trip was to give students a first-hand insight into university life, raise aspirations, and help them understand the range of academic and career pathways available after secondary school.

During the visit, students took part in a tour of one of the university’s colleges, exploring its historic buildings, beautiful courtyards, and halls of residence. They also attended an informative session led by university staff and student ambassadors, who shared their personal experiences of studying at Cambridge and offered practical advice on courses, critical thinking and managing student life.

One of the highlights for many students was the chance to ask questions directly to current undergraduates, gaining an honest and inspiring perspective on what it’s like to live and study at one of the world’s leading universities. They also loved the food!

Overall, the trip was hugely beneficial and inspiring. Students came away with a greater understanding of what university study involves, as well as renewed motivation to work hard and aim high in their future education. It was a fantastic opportunity to broaden horizons and see what’s possible through ambition and perseverance.

Thank you to Miss Simmonds and Mr Hendy for organising the trip and accompanying our students.

Right 28, Access to Education, states that “Children should be encouraged to go to school to the highest level possible” and visits to prestigious establishments like this show our pupils that anything is possible.
