27 Apr 2026

On Monday 20th April, pupils visited In-Comm, Aldridge to get an insight into a day in the life of an apprentice; what skills and qualities are needed when going through the application and interview process. On arrival, pupils were greeted by STEM Engagement Lead, Leanne, who took the group for a tour of the site to see the different areas where the apprentices are trained, meeting some of the trainers and apprentices along the way. They were helpful in answering some of our students’ questions and giving them lots of information about the different roles and companies In-Comm work alongside.Next the students were set a challenge- they had to design a mechanical system to transport a ball safely both vertically and horizontally for 200mm. Environmental progress is built through everyday action—from communities protecting ecosystems to innovators advancing solutions. Clean air, safe water, and climate resilience aren’t optional—they’re essential. Every action counts. Every voice matters. The official Earth Day poster was designed by Los Angeles artist Miles Wintner — a flower made of Earth, held in human hands. Tender, bold, and alive. He calls it the ‘Earthflower’: a reminder that flowers are not decoration, they are connection, linking birds, insects, and humans in the same quiet act of care. Here at Blue Coat C of E Academy, Year 7 have an Eco-Committee which meets every fortnight and there is an Eco-Club every Thursday 3.00p.m.-4.00p.m, new members welcome. The world is in all of our hands. One of our Anne Frank Trust Youth Ambassadors attends Downing Street to call for stronger education to tackle rising levels of prejudice and champion the power of upstanders.

22 Apr 2026

Four Youth Ambassadors from the Anne Frank Trust UK, met senior advisers at Number 10 to share their lived experiences and call for stronger education to tackle rising levels of prejudice.Reflecting on the impact of hearing directly from a Holocaust survivor through the Trust’s programmes our pupil said, “Hearing a Holocaust survivor speak made the reality of antisemitism and all forms of hatred impossible to ignore. There are people who deny what happened, but listening to someone who lived through it helped me understand the human impact of prejudice and why it must be challenged early. It made me realise how important it is to use my voice and stand up for others.”The meeting builds on the Trust’s ongoing engagement with Government and civil society and follows recent national commitments to strengthening social cohesion and promoting shared values among young people. As one of only four of the Ambassadors chosen to attend our pupil represented the Academy to the highest standard.
