As part of our ongoing commitment to students’ personal development, we regularly review our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education programme, including Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE).
Following a recent review, we have updated our RSHE policy to ensure it reflects current government guidance, meets the needs of our students, and continues to align with our school values of Wisdom, Service, Endurance, Kindness and Hope. The updated policy is available on our school website, and we warmly encourage you to take some time to read it using the following link: https://www.bluecoatacademy.org/academy-policies/
Relationships and Sex education are statutory parts of the secondary curriculum, and play an important role in helping young people to develop the knowledge, understanding and confidence they need to navigate the modern world safely and respectfully.
We know that these topics can sometimes feel sensitive, and that families may have questions about how they are approached in school. We are committed to being open and transparent, and to working in partnership with you to ensure that students receive clear, age-appropriate and balanced education in this area.
To support this, we would like to invite you to parental consultation. This will be a relaxed opportunity to:
– Meet members of the PSHE team including senior leaders
– View a sample of the resources used in lessons
– Find out more about our approach to RSHE
– Ask any questions you may have
